Meet the team

Who we are.

The Liverpool Culture Company is delivering a Capital of Culture year to make the whole of Europe proud.

Set up by Liverpool City Council in 2003 after the city was named European Capital of Culture, the team is committed to delivering a world class culture programme up to 2008 and beyond.

The day Liverpool won the race to be European Capital of Culture was one of the greatest days in the city's history. Since then the culture company has been working to build the momentum, connect with communities, tap into the city's wealth of creativity and shout out to the whole world that Liverpool is the place to be in 2008.

Liverpool won the 2008 race because people - our city's greatest asset - were at the heart of the bid and it's our mission to ensure that everyone is given the opportunity to take part in the celebrations.

From working closely with all our stakeholders, cultural organisations, communities, creative industries, artists, schools and businesses we aspire to help Liverpool shine on the world-stage by delivering the best ever culture programme.

We hope to leave a lasting legacy for the people of Liverpool, including more jobs, a stronger economy and a better, more beautiful place to live.
